National Professional Practice Exam for Licensees & Professional Members

The National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) confirms knowledge of professionalism, law, and ethics.

All applicants applying to become professional engineers or geoscientists within Alberta are required to write and pass the National Professional Practice Exam before licensure is granted. However, applicants do not need to have already passed the exam before starting their application.

To write the National Professional Practice Exam, applicants must have an application to become a professional engineer or professional geoscientist currently in progress with APEGA. Members-in-training may only write the exam when they have submitted an application for professional membership or licensee (P.Eng./P.Geo.).
