APEGA Student Liaison Committees

Apply to be a part of the APEGA Student Liaison Committee (SLC). Gain valuable volunteer experience for your résumé, meet industry professionals, and give yourself an advantage as you prepare for your career in engineering or geoscience. The SLC is responsible for planning and hosting events designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Available Positions

This exciting role offers you the opportunity to showcase your innovative ideas and make a tangible impact on the success of our events. From conceptualizing eye-catching campaigns to implementing effective promotional materials, you'll be at the forefront of driving engagement and excitement among university students. Join us in this dynamic position where you can unleash your marketing potential and leave a lasting impression on the campus community. We are looking for the following positions:

    • Engineering Faculty Marketing Coordinator (Undergraduate)
    • Engineering Faculty Coordinator (Graduate)
    • Geoscience Faculty Coordinator (Undergraduate)
    • Geoscience Faculty Coordinator (Graduate)
    • Mount Royal University Marketing Coordinator

    Average Time Commitment

    • 5-8 hours per month

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate the marketing for committee events.
    • Create a marketing strategy in cooperation with APEGA University Outreach Coordinators.
    • Set deadlines for marketing plans.
    • Create required materials (posters, emails, etc.)
    • Send all materials to APEGA staff for approval.
    • Arrange for printing and distribution of all materials.
    • Deliver 5-minute classroom presentations to promote events.
    • Maintain a list of contacts for distribution purposes.
    • Promote events on social media and coordinate onsite social media presence at events.
    • Attend committee meetings as required.
    • Attend & assist at APEGA events.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Engineering or geoscience student at the University of Alberta/University of Calgary/Mount Royal University
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, organizational, and written communication skills
    • Outgoing and friendly
    • Basic graphic design skills are a plus
    • Experience with social media platforms (X, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
    • Be registered with APEGA’s Work Readiness Program

    Responsibilities

    • Reaching out to student groups, clubs & associations on campus to establish a working relationship.
    • Maintain a excel list of contacts, ensuring all information is kept up to date.
    • Create a monthly report of events that clubs are hosting on campus and sharing that information with Student Liaison Committee members.
    • Obtain advertising materials from Marketing Coordinators to distribute to student clubs to promote APEGA events.
    • Be available to assist marketing coordinators with classroom presentations.
    • Attend & assist at APEGA events.
    • Attend meetings as required.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Engineering or geoscience student at the University of Alberta/University of Calgary/Mount Royal University.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, organizational, and written communication skills.
    • Organizational skills to assist with monthly reporting and keeping track of contact lists.
    • Outgoing and friendly.

  • Join our dynamic team as a vital member of the Student Liaison Committee, where you'll play a crucial role in shaping unforgettable events! Additionally, you'll play a key part in coordinating APEGA University events, ensuring they seamlessly align with other activities.     • Maintain a excel list of contacts, ensuring all information is kept up to date and shared with APEGA University Coordinators.
    • Work with the Student Club Representative to create a monthly report of events that clubs are hosting on campus and sharing that information with Student Liaison Committee members.
    • Obtain advertising materials from Marketing Coordinators to assist with the university events that the Student Liaison Committee holds.
    • Advise the University Coordinators as to what events students are interested in participating in
    • Be available to assist marketing coordinators with classroom presentations.
    • Attend & assist at APEGA events.
    • Attend meetings as required.
