Central Alberta Branch | Burnco Concrete Ready Mix Plant Tour (and Covert Operation)
Ever wonder where the concrete for your projects is made? Come see the marvel of a ready mix plant, where aggregate, cement powder, water and several secret ingredients are blended to make ready mix concrete.
Guests are asked to dress up as construction workers with steel-toed boots and safety glasses so that the Burnco personnel will allow us to learn their secret concrete formulas (without suspecting a thing). Cameras are allowed, but be covert when snapping photos—we don't want to have the employees get suspicious of our corporate espionage. Park in the front parking lot, across from the SPCA, and assemble inside the front office. Remember: If anyone asks, we are all concrete customers with a deep interest in where our concrete is made!
Try to be secretive about our mission's goal. Ask the employees many questions and we'll exchange notes after the tour. Mission objective: to learn what makes their concrete so good!
