Transition to New Continuing Professional Development Requirements Now Underway

As previously announced, on November 1, 2025, APEGA will launch the revised Continuing Professional Development practice standard and new Personal Annual Competency Evaluation practice guideline, which detail the new continuing professional development (CPD) requirements and best practice recommendations.
The CPD requirements apply to all professional members, professional licensees, and licensees. They do not apply to life members, members-in-training, non-practising licensed professionals, students, or examination candidates.

As of October 18, 2025, licensed professionals no longer need to complete activity-based CPD reporting. Any remaining CPD hours and activities that were added after the last submission period have been automatically submitted, and CPD compliance will not be assessed for any partial periods. Licensed professionals can view their CPD history by logging in to myAPEGA and clicking the CPD History tab.
What to expect during the transition
The activity-based reporting system will be deactivated on October 18, along with other functionality related to claiming CPD hours. Licensed professionals may see some changes on apega.ca and within myAPEGA and the online education portal over the next two weeks as we prepare to launch the new system on November 1.
All licensed professionals will receive a notification in myAPEGA indicating the start of their next period under the new CPD requirements. Until these requirements are assigned on the next annual renewal date, no action is required.
More information will be shared in a regulatory email on November 1, including instructions for how to access and complete the new requirements once they are in effect, and a link to download a new template for tracking professional development activities.
