Opportunity to Comment on Proposed Withdrawal of Three Guidelines

APEGA regularly reviews practice standards, bulletins, and guidelines to ensure they remain up to date with the evolving needs of registrants and the public. APEGA is currently proposing to withdraw the following three practice guidelines because they either duplicate information that is covered in other recent APEGA publications or contain content that no longer aligns with APEGA’s guideline content strategy.
APEGA proposes to withdraw Concepts of Professionalism and Guideline for Professional Practice because these guidelines duplicate information covered in other more recent APEGA publications.
- Concepts of Professionalism (September 2004, v1.0) has not been revised since its initial publication. The Guideline for Professional Practice (January 2013, v1.2) was originally published as Professional Practice, A Guideline, in September 1994, but has had no further revisions.
- The Ethical Practice guideline was revised in August 2022, and the Professional Practice Management Plan practice standard was published in November 2022. These recent publications cover the content of the two older guidelines.
Additionally, APEGA proposes to withdraw Guideline of Considerations for Establishing a Consulting Practice as its content no longer aligns with the guideline content strategy of APEGA and the Practice Review Board.
- Originally published in September 2005, this guideline’s purpose was to provide an overview of considerations for establishing a consulting practice, and it includes sections providing guidance on business plans, marketing, company names, and financial considerations. As APEGA’s mandate is to safeguard the public by regulating the professions in Alberta, providing guidance on business matters is outside of APEGA’s jurisdiction.
The Practice Review Board has initiated the guideline withdrawal process, which includes an opportunity for registrants and the public to submit their comments on the proposed withdrawals. This feedback form will be available for 75 days, until noon
