APEGA Councillor Resignation and New Appointment

Victoria Wishart, P.Eng., has stepped down as an APEGA councillor as of June 12 for personal reasons. She has been an integral member of Council for the past two years. Her work on critical Council issues, including her recent work on the governance task force, was invaluable, and we send her well wishes. Wishart was elected in 2021, with her term set to expire in April 2024.

When a vacancy occurs mid-term, APEGA Council has the mandate to appoint a replacement who will serve until the next regular election, as per Section 27(1) of the General Regulation. Council has selected Devarsh Sood, P.Eng., to fill the vacancy until the 2024 election. Sood’s role as councillor became effective June 16.

Devarsh was on the ballot during the recent Council election, receiving the next highest number of votes after all councillor roles were filled. Sood joins Council with an impressive governance résumé. He currently serves as president of the Dalhousie University Alumni Association, leading the board and providing overall leadership to this 146-year-old association representing more than 150,000 global alumni. He is also a serving member of the Dalhousie University Board of Governors. His familiarity and experience with governance processes will help foster a quick transition.
