APEGA and ASET's Joint Regulatory Relationship

We invite all interested individuals to learn more about the joint regulatory relationship between APEGA and ASET, and how it relates to protecting the public.

The video below discusses APEGA's position regarding the proposal from the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) regarding changes to scopes of practice. ASET proposed to the Government of Alberta that:

  • engineering and geoscience Certified Engineering Technologists should have their own scope of practice without oversight
  • the scope of practice for Professional Technologists (P.Tech.s) be expanded to allow P.Tech.s to practice outside routine codes and standards
  • the existing APEGA-ASET joint boards and committees that regulate P.Tech.s be eliminated and that P.Tech.s be regulated only by ASET
