Multi-Year Legislative Review Reaches Government Phase

The APEGA Legislative Review has entered its final stages now that proposed recommendations have passed Council review. These recommendations have been forwarded to the Government of Alberta.

This spring, the fifth and final round of consultations with Members and Permit Holders concluded a multi-year review process. At the June Council meeting, Council endorsed all but one of the proposed recommendations.

Since 2012, more than 6,000 individuals have taken part in the process through surveys, face-to-face meetings, webinars, emails, and video conferences. This is the first time since 1981 that APEGA's governing legislation has been reviewed in such detail.

The government will review the proposed recommendations and draft the revised Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act and General Regulation. APEGA Members and Permit Holders who participated in the legislative review played a vital role in shaping the revised legislation.
