Webinar | Methane in Alberta's Oil and Gas Sector
Methane is the shortest‑lived, highest‑impact lever for reducing greenhouse gases available to Canada's oil and gas sector—and one of its most misunderstood.
In this one‑hour session, attendees will learn why methane matters, where it actually comes from, and how rapidly evolving detection and measurement technologies are reshaping inventories and reporting frameworks. Our speaker will examine the economics through the lens of marginal abatement cost curves, "low‑hanging fruit," and the stranded gas problem, and close with a side‑by‑side look at Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia emission profiles.

About the presenter
Milos Krnjaja is a professional engineer with more than 27 years of experience in Canada's oil and gas sector, spanning operating companies and, most recently, the Alberta Energy Regulator. There he focuses on air emissions and methane, and was part of the technical team that helped shape Alberta's 45 per cent methane reduction from the 2014 baseline.
His current work centres on fugitive emissions management, alternative and advanced detection approaches, compressor seal vents, flaring, and mitigating methane slip from reciprocating engines. Over the past 22 years he has led numerous emission‑reduction projects from concept through field implementation, with an emphasis on pairing sound engineering with practical economics. Milos holds a chemical engineering degree from the University of Calgary.
