Edmonton Branch | Over It: The 50 Street Overpass Tour

Join us for a construction site tour hosted by the City of Edmonton, Alberco, and AECOM.
The 50 Street Widening and Railway Grade Separation is a major infrastructure project delivered by the City of Edmonton to improve traffic flow and motorist safety. The street provides access to adjacent developing industrial areas and functions as a major north-south commuter-and-goods-movement corridor. An at-grade railway crossing on 50 Street near 82 Avenue created traffic delays up to 20 minutes and subsequent congestion along 50 Street. The main driver for the project is to eliminate the at-grade CPKC crossing by building the overpass structure over the tracks to avoid this delay.
The project includes a six-lane widening of the 50 Street alignment spanning the CPKC tracks and an extension of 82 Avenue. The overpass bridges are two-span concrete deck, steel girder structures on drilled piles—one structure for north-bound traffic and one for those heading south. A shared-use path will be constructed on each of the bridge overpass structures.
Currently, the north-bound structure is temporarily accommodating two-way traffic (two lanes each way), and the south-bound bridge is nearing construction completion. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2027.
Note this is an active construction site and all attendees need to bring their own PPE including steel-toed boots, a hard hat, hi-vis vest, gloves, and safety goggles.
Register quickly as space is limited.
