Councillor Resignation and New Appointment

APEGA announces the resignation of Claudia Gomez-Villeneuve, P.Eng., M.Eng., from APEGA Council, effective May 26, for personal reasons. Gomez-Villeneuve had been a councillor since 2017 and was re-elected three times, most recently in the 2024 election. We extend our sincere gratitude to Gomez-Villeneuve for her dedicated service to the professions and the public.

Under Section 27(1) of the General Regulation, council may appoint a replacement when a vacancy occurs before a term ends. Accordingly, effective June 12, council has appointed Clodia Kanna, P.Eng., MBA, to serve until the next council election. Kanna was a candidate in the 2025 APEGA Council election and received the next highest number of votes.

Kanna is a professional civil engineer with 24 years of project -management experience and a record of leading cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and safety. She lives in Edmonton and is also a small -business owner, a certified interior designer, and a committed volunteer with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Edmonton Food Bank, where she serves on the board. At APEGA, her previous volunteer experience includes the Edmonton Branch Executive Committee and the Continuing Professional Development Subcommittee.
