APEGA Professional Members Needed for Alberta Building Code Task Force

APEGA is participating in the new Alberta Building Code (ABC) Task Force, which is being set up under the direction of a working group of senior staff from Alberta Municipal Affairs, the Safety Codes Council, the Alberta Association of Architects, and APEGA.

The task force’s mandate is to explore the value and adequacy of schedules associated with the Alberta Building Code. Its goal is to provide recommendations and alternatives for the working group to consider.

APEGA seeks volunteers with the following experience and qualifications to join the ABC Task Force:

  • at least 10 years of professional practice experience working with building schedules in Alberta or other Canadian jurisdictions
  • service as a Responsible Member for an APEGA permit holder
  • at least 10 years being licensed with APEGA or an equivalent Canadian association as a professional member in good standing
  • practice experience in mechanical, electrical, or geotechnical engineering (although other disciplines will be considered)

For roughly six months to a year, selected volunteers will meet in-person, once every two weeks. Additional time for meeting preparation will also be necessary.

Please submit your name and resume to Alex Gilroy at [email protected]. Be sure to address the experience and qualifications listed above.
