Message from Carol Moen, P.Eng., Registrar [2013-2017]

As the regulator of the practice of engineering and geoscience in Alberta, APEGA is reviewing the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act to ensure that it continues to serve the public interest and reflect modern business practices. We are committed to serving the public by demonstrating leadership in this important endeavour.

Consulting with our members and stakeholders is a key component of the review process.

On July 30, 2015, APEGA shared the feedback from the spring 2015 legislative review consultation in the Spring 2015 We’re Listening report. It is clear to me that your input has provided great value in shaping the future legislation that will govern our professions.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the process by submitting insight and feedback on the proposed legislative changes through the face-to-face consultations or online.

Together, we are building a set of recommendations for the Government of Alberta to consider as we develop a simpler, more robust Act to regulate the engineering and geoscience professions in Alberta.

The following topics were selected to set the direction for the spring 2015 consultations:

Member categories

  • Licensee
  • Members-in-Training
  • Professional Licensee
  • Student

Other

  • Authority to Delegate
  • Building Code Exemptions
