MSSC Update: Changes to How APEGA Collects Your Education Updates


APEGA is no longer collecting education updates from professional members. Academic qualifications for professional members are already verified, so changes to education status aren’t needed for our records or to renew your membership.

If you’ve earned a new degree since becoming a P.Eng. or P.Geo., you no longer need to add this change to your Member Self-Service Centre profile, and APEGA has turned off this feature. If you have a pending education request already in the system, it will not be updated. Professional members will no longer be able to make changes to their education status in the Member Self-Service Centre.

As always, professional members who have taken a course for academic credit may still be able to claim it for CPD.

Members-in-training applying for their professional designation may encounter a technical error when completing their membership application on the Member Self-Service Centre. When they update their academic qualifications, the program may default to an incorrect date.

We are working to fix this bug, but until then, M.I.T.s who encounter the error should:

  • save their updates with the error
  • continue with their application
  • contact to let us know about the error, so they can avoid potential delays with the processing of their application

Note: Members-in-training will continue to use the MSSC to let us know about changes to their education status, such as new degrees that need to be evaluated for professional membership.
