Wildfire Information for Members, Permit Holders, Applicants & Others

The wildfire danger in northern Alberta continues to be extreme, made all the worse by the warm, dry weather our province is experiencing. When we posted this item, the situation was changing constantly. At least 10,000 people remained out of their homes, many in High Level and area. Slave Lake, ravaged by fire in 2011, was under an eight-hour evacuation notice.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone affected by these fires.

If you are a member, permit holder, or applicant in one of the wildfire areas, we have important information to share.

Provincial Updates

The Government of Alberta regularly posts updates on the fire situation. These posts include information for anyone affected in almost any way you can imagine.

Perhaps your concern is, comparatively speaking, minor. You want to go for a jog and you're worried about smoke in your community. Maybe you're planning to travel in northern Alberta and need to know which highways are open.

Needs more pressing and serious are also addressed on the government site. What should you take with you when you evacuate? Is fire still threatening your area? Do you qualify for evacuation financial support?
