Senior Engineers Group Releases Brief on Infrastructure in Canada

A policy brief released by the Canadian Society of Senior Engineers (CSSE) says infrastructure in
Canada may be aging faster than replacement schedules take into account. Our Main Infrastructure Works — Whose Responsibility? looks into infrastructure funding across the country.

Data suggest that the federal government has actually decreased its share of infrastructure funding, despite the language used in some of its announcments, the brief says. The brief, which examines the most common types of public infrastructure and their average lifespans, proposes that the federal government research how to extend the life of those infrastructure assets with the greatest impact on public safety.

A charitable organization for retired engineers, semi-retired engineers, and engineers approaching retirement, the CSSE advocates on public issues and encourages communication among its members and the broader Canadian engineering community.
