Painless Public Speaking
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Register by March 19, 2019
In this session, you will learn speech fundamentals, including how to attain clear articulation, how to breathe fully, and how to lift your speech off the page through emphasis, inflection, word duration, and pause. We will examine the importance of body language and how it can affect your message. We will also delve into why we feel anxious when we speak in public. The speaker's thesis was on alleviating anxiety in public presenters, and she will present many exercises and techniques that can help reduce your stress.
Participants are asked to prepare a two-minute speech on a topic of their choosing (it can be work related if you want). You can memorize it, read it from a sheet of paper, or cue cards, but please do not read it from your phone.
After participating in this session, you will:
- Have a strategy for dealing with performance anxiety when speaking.
- Have the tools to become a more polished and powerful presenter.
- Be able to watch a presenter and analyze their performance.
- Have the confidence that your next presentation will be better than ever.
