Edmonton Branch PD Evening: Pipeline Leak Detection

There is increasing interest in understanding more about pipeline leak detection methods and how to implement them for liquid pipelines. Leak detection is a diverse topic drawing on a broad range of technical skills and experience. This presentation will provide an overview of leak detection methods focusing on their applicability for upstream and midstream liquid pipelines. Also, we will present on the latest pipeline regulatory requirements, including how leak detection fits into Pipeline Safety and Loss Management programs. The presentation will close with a discussion of practical applications and lessons learned on recent projects.

About the Presenter

Ian Butterworth, P.Eng., manages the implementation of pipeline leak detection systems and control system cyber security at Beta-Tech. Ian has a Mechanical Engineering degree with many years of multidisciplinary work in pipeline and facility control systems locally and internationally.
