Coal Valley Mine Tour

Westmoreland Coal Company, in collaboration with the Yellowhead Branch, invites Yellowhead-area APEGA Members to Coal Valley Mine for an afternoon presentation and mine tour. Coal Valley Mine is an open pit coal mine which mines thermal coal for sale on the export market. The event includes
- a brief presentation about site operations
- a field tour of the active mining areas
Attendees must bring CSA-approved steel toed footwear. You are welcome to bring your own high-visibility work vest and safety glasses, although the mine can provide all safety equipment other than footwear. The site and office facilities are not wheelchair accessible. Attendees must be comfortable walking short distances on uneven ground and riding over rough roads in a light duty vehicle.
Directions to Site: From west of Edson take Highway 47 south past Robb. Continue on Highway 47 to the Highway 40 turnoff to Cadomin. Follow the Cadomin Road about 6 km to the highway and haulroad junction. Turn left onto the mine haulroad and follow for 3 km. A set of buildings on the left are the field offices.
Max registration capacity is 12 people to allow for the transportation of all group members.
