With legal cannabis (aka marijuana) just around the corner, organizations and HR professionals need to find answers to troubling questions regarding usage, required policies and procedures, and eventual violations of rules. Employers need to be aware of their rights and responsibilities.
Adam Czarnecki, CPHR, will discuss the myths and reality of cannabis usage recreationally and in the workplace, including:
- the history and updates on cannabis in Canada
- types of cannabis products
- usage, tolerance, and addition
- medical cannabis vs. recreational cannabis
- human rights vs. privacy vs. safety
- workplace readiness
- policies and procedures
About the Presenter
Adam Czarnecki, CHRP, is a Certified Human Resources Professional and a recipient of the HRIA Award of Excellence. He is a member of the Senior Management team of a heavy duty truck dealership group in Alberta where he is responsible for Human Resources, Health and Safety and Information Technology. Adam is also an HR Instructor at the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University and was the Chair of their Advanced HR Curriculum Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Calgary with a concentration in Crime and Deviance.
Adam is an avid contributor to industry webinars, conferences and expert panel discussions related to human resources, trades and the Alberta employment pool, including a role as technology columnist for HRIA's quarterly magazine, HUMANCapital. Adam is an HRIA Member of the Board, and volunteers with various not-for-profits as a speaker on employment, corporate readiness and as a resume advisor to students.
