Al-Aziz Moosa, P.Eng., PMP, and Douglas Robertson, P.Eng., will discuss TransCanada's approach to detecting leaks in liquids pipelines. The presentation will touch on the regulatory environment, TransCanada's commitment to safe transport of liquid hydrocarbons, TransCanada's multi-level approach to leak detection, and a discussion on new leak detection technologies.
About the Presenters
Al-Aziz Moosa, P.Eng, PMP, is a program manager within TransCanada's Field Engineering and Projects team. During his time at TransCanada, he has worked on projects to improve the existing leak detection system, test the existing leak detection system to ensure regulatory compliance, test and evaluate new leak detection technologies, and install new leak detection technologies. Prior to joining TransCanada, Al worked in the technology and defence sectors, where he developed and supported innovative sensor systems.
Douglas Robertson, P.Eng., is a professional engineer with over 20 years of pipeline leak detection, SCADA, and control room experience. During his career, he has designed, built, installed, maintained, tested, and operated a diverse cross section of leak detection technologies all over the world. During his time working with and for both leak detection vendors and pipeline operators, Douglas has acquired a depth and breadth of knowledge of pipeline leak detection for gas and liquids pipelines. During his time working in control rooms, he also acquired in-depth knowledge of the challenges and benefits of the day to day monitoring of pipelines using leak detection systems and their impact on operations.
