NAFTA Requirements for Working in the US

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Register by June 14, 2017

Given the current economic and employment situation for many Alberta engineers, geoscientists and engineering technicians, it may be necessary to look south of the border for employment opportunities, until things in Alberta turn around. This seminar discusses US immigration options for experienced engineering and geoscience professionals.

Hosted by Ackah Business Immigration Law, participants will gain advice for legally immigrating for contract and other work opportunities in the US. Canadian-US NAFTA immigration law insights will inform you about the legal responsibilities of seeking employment in the US.

Under NAFTA law, certain Canadian and Mexican citizen professionals like engineers, geoscientists and engineering technicians, can often obtain ’Treaty NAFTA’ (TN) Visa to work in the US, once they receive an employment offer from an appropriate US employer. Alternately, experienced professionals may be engaged as ‘consultants’ under NAFTA rules, and share their expertise with US-based businesses.

Participants in this seminar will learn about all viable US immigration options for Canadian and Mexican citizens who are engineering and geoscience professionals. As well, there will be time for questions and one-on-one follow ups with the presenter.

When you participate in this session, you also get:

  • NAFTA Professionals List to determine which professional designations qualify under NAFTA law
  • Session materials
