Calgary Branch Luncheon: A Market in Transition - An Update on Alberta’s Transition to a Capacity Market
11:15 am - 1:00 pm
Register by May 12, 2019
Alberta’s electricity sector is in the midst of unprecedented change and the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is leading the transition through the introduction of a dynamic new capacity market framework.
Alberta has made significant progress to advance the market transition, and most recently met a major milestone: filing the ISO rules with the regulator that are essential for the implementation and operation of the new market framework. Miranda Keating Erickson, Vice-President, Markets, will provide an update on why our recommendation to move from an energy-only to a capacity market still holds true in 2019, the high-level definition of a capacity market, and how it will meet the reliability needs of the province.
