My name is Muyiwa Akinyosoye. I’ve been a professional engineer with APEGA since 2010 and am currently working in the energy sector with Gran Tierra Energy as VP Major Projects.
My career in the last 23 years has provided me the opportunity of working in various countries, understanding new cultures, and learning what motivates and drives people in our professions. Leveraging such knowledge is how I plan to work with Council to bring about impactful change for APEGA.
When speaking with members toward understanding how APEGA could play an improved role in the future of the professions, many highlighted unemployment and inclusion and diversity.
Alberta’s economic slowdown has impacted many negatively. Rate of unemployment amongst members is well over 10%.
- Diversity & Inclusion
The recent launch of APEGA’s Equity and Diversity Project is certainly laudable and a step in the right direction; however, more remains to be done.
What I hope to achieve
As a Council member, I will work tirelessly to keep the substantive subject of inclusion & diversity at the front of Council’s mind in all decisions.
