The CSSE is a voluntary organization for engineers senior in age or experience, retired or semi-retired. Senior or emeritus engineers who remain practicing are also allowed to be members. LET’S JUST SAY THAT NANO MEANS WEBBY Science Alberta Foundation has been awarded a Webby by the International Academy of Digital Arts. Its production called Do You Know What Nano Means won the award for best online animated video of the year. In a media release from Science Alberta, CEO Arlene Ponting says: “The others in our category were big agencies. And we actually created this whole thing ourselves, so that’s the uniqueness of it. The quality speaks for itself.” The project, funded by a grant from Alberta Innovates — Technology Futures, was produced by Science Alberta Foundation and designed by an Alberta artist. The creation is all part of the commitment to improving science literacy and awareness that drives the foundation. It continually develops resources, in fact, that bring science to life for Albertans of all ages. A live online broadcast announced winners of the 15th annual Webby Awards in New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on June 13. Established in 1996 during the infancy of the web, the Webby Awards recognize excellence on the Internet. To mark its 100th anniversary, the company is publishing a centennial history book and launching its 100 Acts of WE CARE initiative. SNC-Lavalin Inc. will recognize 100 examples of employees giving time to community causes.
