National Science and Technology Week (October 14 - 23, 2011) recognizes and embraces the achievements of science and technology communities across Canada, and promotes the role that science and technology play in contributing to the quality of life we enjoy in Canada and Alberta. Individuals and organizations across Canada hold science and technology-related activities throughout the week. It is an opportunity for people of all ages, in particular children and young adults, to engage in science and technology and to interact with science professionals.
Bring your found rocks and fossils to the 8th annual APEGA Rock & Fossil Clinic in Canmore. Professional geologists will be on hand to identify rocks and fossils brought in by the public. There will also be fun hands-on science activities for the entire family.

The Canmore Rock & Fossil Clinic is a free event. Bring in your found rocks and fossils for identification by professional geologists and university students. Also includes hands-on activities for children and a presentation on Glaciology at 1 p.m. by Shawn Marshall, Canada Resesarch Chair in Climate Change with the Department of Geography at the University of Calgary.
Festival of Eagles: You can also take in the Town of Canmore's Festival of Eagles program on the same day as the Rock & Fossil clinic. It will also be held at the Canmore Civic Centre. The Festival is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They will have a Live Birds of Prey Exhibit, a Spotting Scopes Eagle Viewing, and at 10 a.m. Ben Gadd will have a two hour presentation on Birding Along the Bow.

Professional Geologists and university geology students will be at the 18th annual Rock & Fossil Clinic in Edmonton to identify your found samples. Come and check out some of the earthly delights they have brought for you to view. The clinic is free. Purchase a general admission pass and you can also attend the exciting exhibits and programs at TELUS World of Science.
