The APEGA Board of Examiners has recently approved the ASBOG® Fundamentals of Geology (FG) Exam as an alternative to confirmatory technical examinations in geology. For applicants pursuing G.I.T. or P.GEO. registration with APEGA, the FG Exam may replace up to three confirmatory examinations with one comprehensive exam.
The Fundamentals of Geology Examination is developed by the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG®) to assess the qualifications of applicants seeking licensure as professional geologists in over 25 North American jurisdictions. The exam is four hours in length and is composed of multiple choice questions. The exam fee is $165.00. We encourage you to refer to the ASBOG® Professional Geologist Candidate Handbook for more information about the examination, along with exam specifications and sample questions. This handbook can be accessed free of charge at www.asbog.org.
