Professional Engineers Registered In Another Canadian Province

Professional Engineers registered in a Canadian province other than Alberta can transfer their membership by completing the appropriate online application.

Requirements for a successful transfer process include:

• That the applicant is of good character and reputation

• A good standing with the professional regulatory organization currently registered at

• Payment of the appropriate processing fees.

The transfer process is simpler and quicker than starting a new registration process with APEGA.

Professional Engineers Registered in the United States

Engineers who have attained their Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the United States will have to apply to become a Professional Engineer with APEGA if they desire to practice engineering independently in the province of Alberta.

The registration process involves fulfilling all the necessary requirements. These include having your academic institution provide APEGA with your transcripts and certificate of graduation and providing the names and contact information of at least three references. Alternatively, you can submit your NCEES Record Book instead. You will, also,  need to pass the National Professional Practice Examination.

Engineers-In-Training Registered in Another Canadian Province

Engineer-In-Training registered in a Canadian province other than Alberta can transfer their membership by completing the appropriate online application.

Requirements for a successful transfer process include:

• That the applicant is of good character and reputation

• A good standing with the professional regulatory organization currently registered at

• Payment of the appropriate processing fees.

The transfer process is simpler and quicker than starting a new registration process with APEGA.

Note: Your process cannot be transferred from another professional regulatory organization to APEGA if you hold any status other than .PEng. or E.I.T. In those cases, a new application has to be started.
